Painted Furniture Inspiration

I have been getting antsy lately to paint some tables, chairs and a pie safe in my house with some fresh techniques and colors. My table and pie safe are a deep paprika orangey-red right now--a color I loved for a long time, but I'm ready to be done with those colors and onto something new!

Since I love eclectic style, I'm ready to do more with mustard yellows and tangerine oranges with a mix of colors and distressing finishes. I am working on a project for a cousin of mine who is letting me experiment with an old table, so much fun! Can't wait to try it and post about soon!

Here are a few of my recent pins on Pinterest of some painted furniture pieces that I love and are inspiring me that I am going to experiment with soon!
I can't wait to show you what I come up with in 2012!

Sparkly Holly Leaves

So, we moved into our new home last January and I noticed a holly bush growing in our side yard. I thought about how convenient it would be to clip the pretty leaves and decorate with them for Christmas. Well, Christmas time came this year and I thought about how I could  preserve the leaves so they lasted through the winter.
I had just won some sparkle Mod Podge from Mod Podge Rocks and wanted to experiment with it. So, I painted my holly leaves, poking myself occasionally-ouch! The leaves are sharp!

I allowed them to dry and placed them in a blue vintage Ball jar I got at a garage sale. I really like the result! I plan on keeping them up through the winter.
Later, I was browsing through the Pottery Barn online catalog and noticed that this idea flowed along with their theme of putting sparkly natural objects in jars-so I think my idea was Pottery Barn style without realizing it. How cool am I? ha ha...

Hope you enjoyed!

Repurposed Fabric Rope Bracelet

I first saw these cool rope cuff bracelets on a blog called
Sew.Craft.Create. They were so unique and bohemian looking
I couldn't wait to try them. So, I interrupted all my Christmas
crafting to do just that! But the no-sew way.

Every where she said to sew, I glued with a low temp glue gun.
I  made three from repurposed fabrics-the blue from scrap fabric,
the yellow from a vintage napkin, the cream from a T-shirt.

I love the variety of styles you can make with this fun tutorial and
that I  got to use some vintage buttons I had been saving.
I think the T-shirt one is my favorite because it is stretchy and
I like how the pattern looks. I plan on making more as
gifts with different colors and accessorizing my
wardrobe--the thrifty way, of course.
