Hello, good people! I am so excited to share with you this project from one of the coolest blogs I
have stumbled upon! This chalkboard platter is just genius and I love it! Amanda Wright of
Wit and Whistle has lots of cool DIY projects, a"stylishly quirky paper goods shop",
and more along with gorgeous photography!
She points out in her tutorial that you need to use a special kind of chalkboard paint made for
porcelain (never knew there was such a thing!) But I do love chalkboards and love to make them on
all kinds of surfaces. This idea is a fun and creative way to identify what types of foods you have on
your platter for your entertaining guests-like cheeses, cookies, or appetizers.
This is the first of a few highlights and features I will be doing from time to time to share some
great projects and highlight talented crafters I've discovered.
Hope you enjoy and go visit Wit and Whistle for this tutorial and more of Amanda's amazing ideas.
(Seriously, besides being beautifully designed some of Amanda's handmade cards are laugh out loud funny!)

What a fantastic idea (and a great blog from Wit & Whistle)! Thank you for introducing me to it... and to another "must" for my DIY To-Do List. Now I can't stop looking around the room and thinking, "What would that look like in chalkboard paint?" :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Claudia! I agree, chalkboard paint is so much fun I look around and wonder that too! Thanks for stopping by with kind words!
DeleteI've been looking for an inexpensive plate I can try this with - looks great!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and I am so following now. What a great idea. I am always looking for good hostess gift ideas. The last one I took was a square vase from ikea filled with hydrangea (trader joes). And on it I painted a circle with chalkboard paint and wrote "welcome to the neighborhood" on it. But your idea is even more unique. Thanks!

Hi! and thank you so much for following! Your vase idea sounds cute-I made a pot with "think spring" and a tiny plant for a friend, too. p.s. the plate was made by Amanda at Whit and Whistle-she is so creative and a blog worth checking out!
DeleteI'll stop by your blog to say "hi" too!
Thanks for the post Kristina! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Thank you so much for allowing me to feature your cool idea!
DeleteI featued your platter as a Bedazzle Me Monday Facebook Feature!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Everything-Under-the-Moon/290147087666273
