Trash To Treasure Gallery Wall

This summer I worked on remodeling my bathroom by adding a fresh coat of paint, a new mirror, lighting and as a finishing touch, a colorful gallery wall. Can you believe everything I used came from thrift store junk? I choose the pieces that had an interesting shape and the potential for prettiness-because I know what paint can do!

Below is everything I used to create the look above:
Stainless steel platters, outdated Avon recipe plates, cast iron owl trivets...stuff you might just throw away, or transform like I did!

Here's what I did to create my gallery wall:

First, I spray painted the owls white and gray for an updated look, adding yellow eyes for fun.

I figured out how to create a brushed metal look on my platters by using Martha Stewart multi-surface metallic craft paint. It worked great to tone down the shiny surface.

Then I cut out some fun shapes out of patterned wrapping paper to Mod Podge to the plates.

I also added some "bathroom humor" by cutting out dictionary pages with words like "cleanable" and "bathrobe"and Mod Podged those to the plates too.

I was happy with the colorful finished look of my platters.

Finally, I painted the octagon-shaped plates with aqua paint. Then, I stenciled monograms and numbers to burlap that I cut out into an octagon shape.

I Mod Podged some gauzey fabric over the plates, then glued and Mod Podged the monogrammed fabric to the middle to finish.

After attaching everything to the wall with mounting tape, I was finished with my bathroom gallery wall! Costing only around $10 to make from random thrift store finds!

I love my updated bathroom and can't wait to reveal the whole before and after post here on the blog. The last thing I have to do is paint my door a bright pop of tangerine orange and it will be done! Stay tuned for the final reveal...and a few fall projects coming soon too!
